SEO is such an important part of marketing any website. It can also be a full-time job keeping up with all the latest tips and techniques, not to mention finding the time to implement them correctly. One important SEO tip you can consider implementing to get your efforts started is making sure you have good title tags which look like this is the website code:
This is the text that will appear in the top of the browser and in search engines that tell site visitors what your particular webpage is about. Here are a couple of tips for ensuring you have title tags that will give you the best search engine rankings:
- Always limit the title tag to no more than 70 characters. You want to give each webpage a good description and to allow both search engines and site visitors information about what the page contains but including more than 70 characters can make the site look like a spam site.
- It is always important to include a keyword / keyphrase in the title tag, however, you should not use any word more than twice. Again, you do not want your website to appear as a spam site to search engines. They don't look highly on that and your rankings will definitely reflect that!
- Make sure to include specific key phrases that will bring in your target audience. For example if you provide a carpet cleaning service in Woodbridge, VA you may want to consider using a keyphrase such as: "carpet cleaning woodbridge va."
- The title tag should reflect the page content. Search engines know when you are using title tags that describe a topic other than what you have written about on the webpage.
- We have seen many people who have carefully taken the time to follow the above tips but have failed to implement the technique properly because they have applied the same title tag to each webpage. This brings us to our last point. Each individual webpage should have its own title tag to describe the content of that particular page.
Always remember when implementing any SEO techniques, you should always put the web visitor first and search engines second. If you put search engines first you may bring a lot of visitors to your site but web visitors are easily turned off. If they feel the website was created for search engines they will move on. Site visitors want content that relates to them and is easy to read.

If you're considering redesigning your website but you're not sure where to start, we can help! A redesign can be overwhelming. What will the website look like, what content do you want to have on the new website, what will the layout look like, how will visitors navigate through the website? There are a lot of questions to consider. It's good to know when you redesign your website you have a few options:
- A complete redesign
A complete redesign means just that. The look of your entire website will completely change. As scary as this sounds this can do great things for business. It can show customers your business is growing, it can take an out-of-date website and give it a modern look and will help apply consistency across your marketing materials. This is the most popular way to do a redesign.
- Redesign in phases
Redesigning your website in phases can be a good process if you want to manage the change in pieces. For example, you would like to redesign your homepage to slowly introduce the look of a new website and do some testing. This option can also be very complex as it can take a lot of time and parts of your website may not look consistent with newer parts.
- No redesign, focus on testing and features of website
For some websites no redesign may be needed at all. There may be an issue with the checkout process that customers keep getting stuck at, some visitors may be requesting new features. By listening to your customers and reviewing your site statistics you can determine what your visitors are looking for and this may not require a redesign at all.

We all want our website to rank high in the popular search engines. One of the greatest techniques that you can do to improve your search engine ranking while at the same time keeping visitors on your website, is to regularly add new content to your website. Your site visitors will love to read about what you do and the products or services you offer. New content will also give your site visitors a reason to return to your website.
Search engines love websites that regularly have new content posted to their site. Search engines view sites with new content as important sites and search engines want to rank important sites highly. So how often should you add new content? This will really depend on the type of website you offer. If your website is a blog that is all about content you will want to write new content every one to two days. If you offer a service or product you may want to add new content once a week.
We are always asked what to write about. Again, this will depend on the type of service or product you offer. Before you convert site visitors to customers they want to know you are an expert in the field. They want to be educated. Consider writing articles about the benefits of your service / product, or perhaps the many ways your product can be used. The content doesn't need to be an advertisement. People like to read educational material too and this can lead to a sale.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and write some fresh content for your site!

So you keep hearing about these content management systems but you're not quite sure what they do. Content Management Systems, simply put, a CMS, is a powerful, yet very easy tool to manage your site content. If you can use Microsoft Word or a similar text editor you can easily use a content management system.
So what is the big deal about a CMS? Most website owners love the idea of a CMS because it gives them complete control of all the content on their website without having to hire a web designer to update their content on a regular basis. This can get expensive especially if you update your content daily and it also gives you control to post content whenever you like.
Here are some of the features a content management system can include:
- The ability to add / delete / edit all content including text and images
- Create / delete menus and submenus
- Create / delete individual webpages
- A photo gallery that allows you to easily upload pictures
- Allows multiple users to be authors on the website
- Update meta data for each page to enhance search engine optimization
- Work on pages while they are unpublished and publish them only when you are ready
More features can be included in a content management system. For more information about how a content management system can help you please contact us.
